The article essentially confirms that Israel has been coordinating this operation with H.D. Mahmoud Abbas. This is a fatal mistake. The world seems to think that Abbas is some kind of moderate just because he wears a suit and tie. He is a Holocaust denier, a terrorist, commander in cheif of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, and a very hard bargainer. It is he who didn't allow Arafat to compromise in negotiations with Israel.
What is even more important to remember is that he is not popular with his people. When the 'Palestinians' had the chance to vote they elected Hamas overwhelmingly, not H.D Abbas. And recent polls show that given the chance to vote today, they would elect Hamas again. That means that even if we were to come to some kind of 'reasonable' agreement with Abbas, the people on the street would not honor it. Ultimately they would vote H.D. Abbas out and Hamas in, leaving us with Hamastan in both Gaza as well as Judea and Samaria ('the West Bank').
Why do the band of clowns that are currently in power not see this? Because they are blinded by the eternal question of 'What will the Goyim say?'. Of course Tanach is full of this and what we see over and over again is that when we stand strong and trust in God, he protects us. When we trust in the nations of the world, we lose every time.
If I'm gonna sit here and criticize our lunatic government day after day, I need to give credit where it is due.
Someone in the Spokespersons Unit of the IDF started a YouTube Channel with lots of videos of the Gaza operation. It seems that their goal is to show the world that each strike is calculated and aimed at very specific targets. I can only hope that this kind of thing will spread to other areas of the Israeli government PR.
Here is a sample of the videos that you can find on YouTube.
That's right. It didn't even take a week. Almost every one of our post consistently received a top rating by the visitors of JBlog Central, and now we have disappeared completely from their listing. It could be that it is a technical error, but I don't think so. The truth that I bring here is a bit more than some people can handle.
UPDATE 1-7-08
I finally got around to writing JBlogCentral to find out why my blog dropped off their list. It seems that I neglected to add a link back to them and that was the actual reason that they removed this blog from their listing. They told me that if I add a link, they will reconsider the blog for listing. As you can see, I have done so on the right. We'll see what happens.
I'm not sure if I should be relieved or disappointed. I kind of liked the idea of getting banned.
In my post from the other day I predicted this. My reasoning was that it is not possible that the establishment in this country will allow a honest person like Feiglin to get a chance at even a little bit of power. It is so sad that you can always rely on our government to do the wrong thing.
Last night I wrote a quick post explaining my opinion that the current Gaza operation will end up being another half measure which will end up sacrificing Jewish and Arab lives for the sake of a very short lived benefit.
I can't believe how naive I was. I must have just been tired when I wrote that post. This morning I read a headline at the Jpost that made me rethink the situation and realize that it is MUCH MUCH WORSE than I had thought:
The Left in this country, currently headed by Olmert, Livni and Barak want nothing more than to create a Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza as soon as possible. The fact that this would require them to evict hundreds of thousand of the best citizens in this country from their homes doesn't seem to bother them too much. For some reason, they believe that evicting terrorist Arabs would be ethnic cleansing and evicting Jews is just a necessary evil. (Maybe it is because Jews have been ethnically cleansed so many times in history that it is just considered normal).
There has been one big obstacle that is stopping them from doing this. That is the fact that most of the Arabs in this country support Hamas and Hamas, unlike H.D. Mahmoud Abbas, are honest terrorist. They refuse to even recognize the state of Israel. H.D. Abbas on the other hand is more pragmatic. His strategy is to take what he can get now and then fight for more later from an expanded base.
Over the last months, Israel has taken many actions such as releasing thousands of convicted terrorist as 'goodwill gestures' to ' boost Abbas'. Essentially, the psychotic leaders of this country who worship at the alter of the new Molech called 'Peace at all cost' are ready to do anything to put this Holocaust denier in power so that they can hand him a state on a golden platter. Even if the Arabs don't want him.
But nothing they have done seems to be working. So now, in a desperate measure, in the last days before the election, they are going into Gaza and destroying Hamas' infrastructure in the hopes of propping up H.D.Mahmoud Abbas. They hope to accomplish two things with this:
First, to hand Gaza over to H.D. Abbas. Second, to boost Kadima's popularity before the upcoming election, so that they will be able to stay in power long enough to fulfill their dream of bringing the ultimate sacrifice to the god of peace by creating a Palestinian state.
The Tel Aviv District Court has ordered the Likud to restore MK Michael Ratzon to the position he earned on the Likud's election slate. Ratzon had been ranked 24th, a realistic position in this election. He had been pushed down to the 37th position along with Moshe Feiglin (pushed from 20th to 36th) and Ehud Yatom (pushed from 29th to 38th) by party leader Binyamin Netanyahu. The Likud is meeting now to decide whether to appeal. If the decision stands, Feiglin and Yatom - who had not appealed to the courts - ought to be able to demand that the Likud's internal court order their positions restored. Israel Radio reports that if they demand that their positions be restored, there is a "good chance" that they will be.
I hate to be the pessimist, but in my opinion, those of us who support Feiglin, should not get our hopes up. The establishment in Israel has too long of a record of supressing straight talking, practical people like Moshe Feiglin. Bibi will pull a new trick out of his sleeve to keep Feiglin out.
Shabbat just ended a couple of hours ago here in Judea. Over Shabbat we heard rumors of the Israeli operation in Gaza. On the way home from shul I saw one of the neighboring families coming out of their house in the middle of their Shabbat meal. Their son was freshly dressed in his army uniform, with his M-16 and his backpack slung over his back. He was saying goodbye to his family before he ran to his car to return to his army unit from which he was given conditional leave for Shabbat. I guess he got the phone call to come back to his unit to assist in the Gaza op.
Seeing this really affected me. I have a lot of mixed feelings. On the one hand, nothing makes me prouder than to see our boys in uniform going to defend us from the evil terrorist in Gaza. For years we have been watching rockets land in Israel and we all ask ourselves the same thing.... When will the government act? When will they finally go in to Gaza and put a stop to this? So to see boys from our village going to participate in this makes a warm feeling in my heart.
On the other hand, I know without any doubt that this operation will just be a waste of Jewish and Arab life. So far I am reading that over 200 Arabs were killed in Gaza. I haven't read of any Jewish casualties as a result of the opperation, thank God, but it is hard to believe that there won't be any. And what are all of these lives being sacraficed for? The sad answer is that it is just to raise Kadima's numbers in the polls before the elections.
We all know that this operation will last for a limited time. Then in a few weeks, or less, Israel will be back to sending daily deliveries of cash, food and oil to Hamas, as they have been doing for years. The rockets will return. Jews will continue to be terrorized. Arabs in Gaza will continue to live in a big prison. And what will have been accomplished? Nothing!
This is all because we are not ready to stop and think logically. Anyone who will anylize the big picture will come to only one, comprehensive, lasting solution to this situation. That is that Israel needs to be for Jews and the Arabs need to be sent to any one of their over 20 countries. Israel needs to then announce that this is our land and we are not interested in negotiating anymore. This will be good for everyone involved.
It will very good for us, and even better for the Arabs. People forget that the Arabs in Gaza are still living in refugee camps 60 years later. They are held prisoner there by the Arab countries that want to keep them there as a pawn for more reasons than I compare to discuss here.
Instead what we get from the criminals who run our government is half measure after half measure which brings very limited, temporary results which cost Jewish as well as Arab lives (many more Arab than Jewish thank God).
Here is a video of Rabbi Kahane debating our Dear Leader Ehud Olmert many years ago. It is amazing how truth never changes.
A friend of mine who is a recent Baal Teshuva and is just starting to learn Hebrew noticed that the word Chashmonai implies Chet Shemen, that is to say, the people of the 8 days of oil.
Seems like a pretty obvious Remez but I have never seen it or heard it before. Have any of you seen this somewhere before or is it his Chiddush?
Over at DovBear there seems to be a new team member named Lurker. Now, I always knew that DovBear is a heretic, but his logic is generally sound so I enjoy reading him. This Lurker guy on the other hand...
In his recent post, The origins of Hanukkah, he tries to argue that Hanukkah originates in the Roman holiday Saturnalia. His proof is from the Talmud in Avodah Zara that tells us that Adam mourned when he saw the days getting shorter and then celebrated after he realized that they were growing longer again.
This is very faulty logic. Your argument goes something like this:
The Rabbi's in the Talmud were fools/liars/ideologues with their head buried in the sand. They thought that Hanukkah was established to celebrate the war of the Maccabees (an event that happened a few generations before their time) when it was really established to celebrate Saturnalia (something that was still going on during their time).
How do we know that this is false? Because the brilliant/holy/enlightened Rabbis had an infallible tradition going all the way back to the creation of the Earth. Their tradition is that God created this man and named him Adam. He is the one who really established the roots from which all pagan holidays stem.
Now hold on. If you trust the Rabbis of the Talmud to tell us what Adam did, or even that there was an Adam at all, why on earth would you not trust them to tell you the origin of a holiday that is well collaborated by other historical sources?
This is a perfect example of how smart Jewish minds, that are able to split an atom, are able to come up with the most twisted and distorted logic to justify what their Yetzer Hara wants justified.
Similar twisted thinking brings our government here in Israel to racially cleanse Jews from Gaza while sending food, money, fuel etc to terrorist in the same Gaza.
Here is something to lighten up the mood now that I am done placing blame for all of world Jewery's problems.
I was thinking about Hanukkah and the Maccabees. The Maccabees were a small group of faithful Jews who weren't concerned about public opinion. Not of the Hellenist Jewish majority and certainly not of the world at large. They were only concerned about God, His Torah and His Land. The fought for their beliefs even though they were very few, and they had to fight their own brothers.
Hellenism is long forgotten and Hanukkah is still being celebrated all over the world. The president of the United States makes a Kosher Hanukkah party every year in the White House.
The Jewish holidays are supposed to make us stop and think and learn something about how we should be and what we should hold dear. Who are the Maccabees of today? Here is one suggestion...
Every time that I have a guest visiting our home in our little village here in the Judean Desert for the first time, I love to remind them of this.
I explain that the reason that they and their whole family have always been known as Jewish no matter where they were is because over 2,000 years ago they originated right here in Judea. Most all Hebrews from the other regions of the Holy Land were exiled by the Assyrians and are now know as the Lost Tribes of Israel. The vast majority of those known today as Jews are from either the tribe of Judah or Benjamin (with a smattering of Cohanim and Leviim thrown in).
Italians are from Italy. Greeks are from Greece. Jews are from Judea. And our government wants to kick the Jews out and give it to the Ishmaelites. Go figure!
Is the state of Israel good for the Jewish people or has it become our enemy? This is a pretty hard question to ask, but it is exactly what I have asked myself hundreds of times over the last few years.
Sometimes I look at this country of ours and am absolutely amazed at how much progress has been made here over the last 60 years. At other times I can't figure out how it lasted even a few days with the childish leaders that are running it.
God has done so many miracles for this little state. We have won war after war despite all of the odds against us. What do we give him back? We pander to our enemies. We return the Sinai to Egypt for a piece of paper. We meet with Arafat and other terrorist and beg them to make piece with us. The Oslo accords. The disengagement. etc...
And just when you start to think that maybe some of the good guys are getting ahead in this banana republic, Likud goes and knocks them down to the bottom of their Knesset list making it almost impossible for them to ever get in.
Then I look around my little village in the 'West Bank' and I see the most beautiful, holy, pure people in the world. And I wonder if it wouldn't just be best to have a civil war and declare an independent state of Judea.
